You had some great neutral pieces in your room already. With these new additions, you'll have a space that's comfortable for your family and is sure to impress your guests too. We stuck with your love of neutrals and infused some pops of varying blue hues for added interest. There's a nice mix of texture with the wood, metal, and glass pieces in your new space. The textiles will add a softness to your space that was lacking before. I hope you and your family will enjoy this new family room as much as I enjoyed designing it!
Add a window pane mirror over the mantel as the main focal piece, then layer in a few other decorative items. Here, I’ve included a series of wooden candlesticks and candles, photo frames to display baby pictures and/or wedding and family photos, etc., and blue glass vases.
A rug will help define the seating area and the deep blues in this one will bring a nice pop of color. We’ll accent your existing sofa with throw pillows, pulling the color palette from the rug. I recommend floor-to-ceiling sheers to soften the windows using your existing curtain rods, and a new ceramic drum table between your existing chairs.
I flanked one end of the sofa with one of your existing tables and added a new table lamp. On the other end, I added an arc lamp for direct light.
I included a round coffee table so there are no sharp edges for baby. Place a garden stool between your existing accent chairs. As a bonus, I've suggested a fabric for recovering these chairs. The ceramic stool will be a nice contrast to the wood accent tables in the room. I also included a plant to give the space a cozy, lived-in feel.
