Take a look at the collection that was voted on: Lauren Conrad Change & Co. Talbot Cooley Tamara Magel Living room #4 from Tamara Magel was the winner! This design is absolutely stunning with a casual, yet sophisticated, look. Read on to see how we approached this inspiration room and find tips on how to get this look in your home. The trick to decorating using inspiration photos isn't to copy the design exactly. Instead, the key to using inspiration photos is to incorporate some of the details from the inspiration that will complement your home. We divided this room into 3 categories: pops of black, modern white furniture and accessorize with texture. All of these categories work together to create this amazing space that is inviting, sophisticated and approachable. Here we go! 1. Pops of Black The inspiration room has a neutral color scheme with lots of white which makes the black pieces in the room really pop. The sectional is black, kid-friendly and oversized while other pieces are sleek and modern. This high contrast between these styles work perfectly together. This look doesn't have to start with a black sectional either. Start by adding at least 2-3 items in your room that are black. These items could be the window frames, mirrors, picture frames, accent chairs, curtains, lighting, pillows or even a painted accent wall or ceiling. Modern White Furniture To allow the black pieces to really pop, start with a crisp, white background by using furniture that is simple and sleek. Lacquer and high gloss pieces are perfect examples to use. Not every piece of furniture in the room needs to be modern and white, but the large, main ones are a good place to start. If custom built-ins aren't in your budget, start with the TV stand or entertainment center or if the TV is above the fireplace, try console tables, coffee table or bookcases. Accessories with Texture The first two categories may seem very cold and stark by themselves so this last category is very important to achieve the overall look and feel we are striving for in this room. The finishing touches need to be full of texture to add warmth to the space. Velvet, knits, rattan, and other natural or cozy items instantly add dimension to the room and make the space inviting.
